Over a dozen people, including three firefighters, were injured after a fire truck and a Brightline high-speed train collided on Saturday in downtown Delray Beach.
According to the Delray Beach Police Department, the crash was at about 10:40 a.m., between East Atlantic and Southeast First Avenues.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel responded to assist the 12 who suffered minor injuries in the train. The firefighters were hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
Police officers blocked the area where the remains of the Delray Beach ladder truck were.
The National Transportation Safety Board also responded.
Tragic collision between a fire truck and the brightline in Delray Beach. Apparently the firemen were responding to a car collision. Always sad how car culture and vehicular violence can cause compounding tragedy. pic.twitter.com/k4WKiImVZR
