Buffy But Sarah Michelle Gellar Isn’t the Focus, So It’s Not

Did anybody watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and think, “This is pretty good, but there’s just too much Buffy?” (As for Dawn, well, any character who still inspired sympathetic Vice articles 17 years later was certifiably unpopular.) Hulu is working on a Buffy reboot in which Buffy Summers will no longer be the main character, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Instead, the series will focus on a new and different slayer, while Buffy will be featured as a side character. Sarah Michelle Gellar is attached to join “the next chapter in the Buffyverse,” per THR. Sisters Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face) are reportedly attached to write the show, while Oscar winner Chloé Zhao will direct. Let’s throw I Saw the TV Glow’s Jane Schoenbrun in the mix and see what happens.
