Hopefully This Black Keys Tour Won’t Also End in Disaster

It’s time to load up the El Camino and, hopefully, hit the road without skidding off. Despite 2024 proving to be a series of kneecapped ego blows to the Black Keys, the rock duo have announced a new nationwide tour beginning in May. The “No Rain or No Flowers” trek will carry Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach to outdoor amphitheaters and pavilions, including the Greek Theatre, Red Rocks, and Stone Pony Summer Stage. A new Black Keys album will also be released later this year. But back to the previous caravan of bad decisions: This outing will serve as a redemption of sorts for the duo, who were forced to cancel the entirety of their North American arena tour last year due to reported lack of interest and ticket sales. (And, yes, massive costs associated with purchasing arena tickets. $100 for nosebleeds?) At the time, the cancellation was deflected as necessary to benefit fans as they downsized venues in the future. However, Carney went on to lament in now-deleted tweets that “we got fucked” by their mega-manager, Irving Azoff, and “I’ll let you all know how so it doesn’t happen to you.” The Black Keys’ new management team, Red Light, began to represent them in June after splitting with Azoff, and they decided their best revenge-dress moment would be … performing at a private cryptocurrency event in their hometown. Time to tighten up, boys.
