So Much for DJ Khaled’s ‘Two Drake Songs’

Another one! As in, Drake sure seems to be starting beef with another hip-hop figure. (Quite the timing!) This time, it’s DJ Khaled, who just announced his new album, Aalam of God. You see, in typical fashion, Khaled posted a seven-minute action-movie trailer for the album on February 4, co-starring Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Ramos. At one point, Wahlberg — whose character has hired Ramos to steal Khaled’s album before it comes out — mentions that the project has “two Drake songs.” But the day after Khaled posted the trailer to Instagram, Drake disputed that claim, commenting, “Must be @drakebell 😶.” Khaled since deleted the trailer entirely, either out of embarrassment or legal worry.

But Drake’s comment is a bit confusing. For one, the rapper’s been working with Khaled for over a decade, and the two have made four top-ten hits together. It wouldn’t be a stretch to expect Drake to be on Khaled’s new album. But also, this wasn’t even the first time Khaled teased Drake’s appearance. In 2023, back when the album was still called Til Next Time, Khaled said on Instagram Live that he had “two Drakes in the can. Mixed. Mastered,” to no response from Drake.

It sure seems like Drake isn’t in a place to be alienating any more of his industry peers right now. But then again, Khaled did make fun of his poetry book.
