Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today for a final viewing of the TV shows who met an untimely death this year. Starting in January, The Franchise didn’t get a sequel season and the Frasier reboot got the boot. And if the past couple years have taught us anything about the streaming landscape, it’s that more shows will continue to be canceled up until Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper get drunk on CNN on New Year’s Eve. As always, we’ll be keeping track of the losses on this living funeral of a post, though we should note that that we will not be including shows that are ending on their own terms (or claim to be, anyway). Consider, for example, The Righteous Gemstones. Creator and star Danny McBride said in a statement that “the Lord spoke to [him] and said it’s time to wrap this sucker up” after four seasons. That means it doesn’t count … unless McBride comes forward one day to clarify that when he said the Lord, he actually meant HBO. Below, a running list of every TV show canceled in 2025.

The Franchise (HBO)

What’s it about? Per an official logline, The Franchise followed “the crew of an unloved franchise movie fighting for their place in a savage and unruly cinematic universe.” Himesh Patel and Aya Cash starred in this satirical comedy’s take on the behind-the-scenes world of superhero moviemaking.

Number of seasons: 1
When was it canceled? January 3

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple TV+)

What’s it about? Noel Fielding starred as notorious real-life 18th-century highwayman Dick Turpin, though — as the title suggests — this British historical comedy took some playful liberties with the escapades he went on with his gang of outlaws.

Number of seasons: 1
When was it canceled? The Sun reported on January 15 that the show had been scrapped because Noel Fielding didn’t show up for work. On January 17, a spokesperson for Fielding confirmed the cancellation and said it was a private matter regarding his health.

Teacup (Peacock)

What’s it about? Set on an isolated ranch in Georgia, this horror series from executive producer James Wan was a loose adaptation of Robert McCammon’s 1988 novel Stinger.

Number of seasons: 1
When was it canceled? January 17

Frasier (Paramount+)

What’s it about? Kelsey Grammer reprised his role as the titular psychiatrist from Cheers. In the spin-off, Frasier is divorced and has returned to his hometown of Seattle as a radio host.

Number of seasons: 2
When was it canceled? January 17, though Deadline reports that CBS plans to try to find the series a new home

How to Die Alone (Hulu)

What’s it about? Show creator Natasha Rothwell plays Mel, a broke JFK airport employee who has never been in love. A near-death experience pushes her to start living.

Number of seasons: 1
When was it canceled? February 4, though a “shocked” and “heartbroken” Rothwell said in a statement to Variety that she isn’t giving up on finding it a new home

Hysteria! (Peacock)

What’s it about? After a classmate goes missing during the “satanic panic” of the 1980s, a group of high schoolers pretend to be Satanists to raise the profile of their heavy metal band. Julie Bowen plays a bandmate’s mom.

Number of seasons: 1
When was it canceled? February 4
