Jenny Slate Gets Sucked Into the It Ends With Us Lawsuits

Jenny Slate is the latest name to get sucked into co-stars’ Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing legal feud. As The Hollywood Reporter states, the actor and comedian also filed a complaint to Sony about Baldoni’s producing partner, Jamey Heath, during the It Ends With Us shoot. According to THR, Slate expressed that the apartment she was renting in New York City for the shoot wasn’t good for her and her toddler. Like many New Yorkers, however, she was stuck due to a high security deposit and didn’t want to have to lose that money to go somewhere more comfortable. Heath offered to have Wayfarer — his and Baldoni’s company — reimburse the cost of her security deposit, around $15,000, so that Slate and her family could find somewhere comfortable to stay. How bad does an offer of $15,000 have to be for Slate not only to refuse but to file a complaint? Pretty bad, allegedly. Per THR, the offer made Slate “so uncomfortable — sources say he focused so intensely on the sanctity of motherhood and Slate’s role as a mother — that she filed a complaint to the film’s distributor, Sony.” (Neither Sony nor Slate returned requests for comment.)

On February 18, Lively amended her complaint to add that two other actresses (these names were both redacted, though we can now assume one is Slate) from the film would be willing to testify on her behalf. Slate had previously spoken in support of Lively last winter, telling Today that “Blake is a leader, a loyal friend, and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.” Well, here’s hoping Slate was telling the truth about her relationship to Lively, because these two are in it together now. Considering this THR story (featuring memorably bizarre original art) alleges the main issue between Lively and Baldoni was the peculiarity of his Bahá’i faith, there’s more drama coming her way.
