Mamma mia, does it show again? My, my, just how much we’ve missed you? Per the New York Times, Mamma Mia! will return to Broadway this summer after preivously ending a 14-year run in 2015. The musical full of ABBA songs will be back at its longtime New York home, the Winter Garden Theatre, for previews starting on August 2. The opening date is set for August 14. This run is being billed as a limited, six-month engagement, although creator and producer Judy Craymer said she hopes “it means we can come back again or we’ll extend further.”

According to Craymer, only minor design changes have been made, so this is not a revival or secondary production. While the show hasn’t been on Broadway for a decade, multiple productions of Mamma Mia have continued running around the world, from London’s West End to a Royal Carribean International cruise ship. The stage musical also inspired a pair of films starring Meryl Streep as Donna, who owns a Greek villa and has three possible baby daddies. Speaking of, when are we getting a solid update on whether a third Mamma Mia movie is actually happening? Craymer said she’s committed to a threequel, but that the timing hasn’t been determined. Don’t tell us we’ll have to wait 10 years to circle back to that, too.
