Amber Ruffin Is a Changed Woman After White House Correspondents’ Dinner Firing

Two days is more than enough to change! After the White House Correspondents’ Dinner fired their former host Amber Ruffin, she went on Late Night with Seth Meyers to show everyone they’ve got her all wrong; she can actually see things from both sides, even when watching The Sound of Music. When Meyers tried to tell a joke about a burgerlery in Brooklyn, Ruffin was quick to point out the golden rule: gotta see it from both sides. She stated, “The problem is that’s divisive… If there’s one thing I learned from this weekend, it’s ‘you have to be fair to both sides.’” She was spinning Meyers’ points faster than two kids left alone with an office chair. A broken door became an “innovative ventilation system,” and stolen cash became a “micro-loan.” She explained further, “Monday’s Amber Ruffin knows that when bad people do bad things, you have to treat them fairly and respectfully. When you watch The Sound of Music, you have to root for the singing children and the other people.”

She eventually criticized the WHCA’s decision head on, joking that “we have a free press so we can be nice to Republicans at fancy dinners.” Then, as she became more serious Ruffin turned to the camera and stated: “When people take away your rights, erase your history, and deport your friends, you’re supposed to call it out. Glad to find that out now, because if they had let me give that speech— oooooh baby! I would’ve been so terrifically mean.” Amber, it’s still not too late to give your full, uncensored speech! We need it!
