Pearl Yachts Unveils the Pearl 63

Five years ago, Pearl Yachts premiered the Pearl 62 at Boot Dusseldorf. That model extended the British builder’s lineup to create a new entry-level option, with the 62 joining the Pearl 65, 80 and 95 in the motoryacht range.

Today, the new baby in the family is the Pearl 63—an evolution of the Pearl 62 that’s being unveiled at the Palma International Boat Show at the end of April. The Pearl 62 joins the current Pearl Yachts lineup alongside the Pearl 72, 82 and 95.

Kelly Hoppen Interiors created the interior scheme on the Pearl 62, and the design firm is back with the Pearl 63, giving owners four interior themes to choose among: Indulgence, Luxury, Modern and Monochrome. The shipyard also adjusted the yacht’s glazing in a way that allows more natural light to flow inside, and that expands the views from the inside out. The idea is to create the feeling of an indoor-outdoor experience, with a galley positioned to serve the cockpit as well as guests who are inside the yacht.

Pearl Yachts says its team also improved the 63’s aft cockpit layout compared to what was available on the 62. There are opening side balconies as well as high-low dining tables, giving owners multiple options for cocktail setups, mealtimes and watersports fun. The backrest of the L-shaped sofa flips to create a lounge with a view of the water, making the Pearl 63 an example among a growing number of yachts that make smart use of space that used to be one-size-fits-all on boats.

In the salon, Pearl Yachts says the 63 has restyled seating that includes a chaise forward with pullout poufs. This is yet another example of adding versatility and options for how a space can be used on board. The family-size dining table in this part of the yacht also gives owners a choice for meals out of the elements on days when the weather is less than optimal.

The versatility theme continues on the Pearl 63 with the tender garage, which is big enough to house a Williams TurboJet 285 or a Sea-Doo Spark. This space, alternatively, can be set up as a crew cabin, yet again giving owners options for how to set up the yacht to best serve the way they prefer to cruise.

For owner-operators, the helm has joystick controls, a dynamic positioning system, proportional thrusters and integrated Garmin touchscreens. In the engine room, Pearl Yachts has upgraded the available options. The Pearl 63 can be ordered with twin Volvo Penta IPS1350s, providing a reported top hop of 33 knots. (The Pearl 62’s top option was the IPS1200.)

What about accommodations? The Pearl 63 is in a category of yachts that usually has staterooms for up to six guests, but its layout allows for eight guests in four staterooms with three heads. The master stateroom is a full-beam space with a private stairway, his-and-hers closets and hullside windows for broad views of the outdoors.
