“Alexa, play ‘Zombieboy,’ by Lady Gaga … for a third time.” HBO officially renewed The Last of Us for a third season — and did it before season two even premieres. That means that the story from The Last of Us Part II will extend past just one season. “We approached season two with the goal of creating something we could be proud of,” creator Craig Mazin said in a statement. “The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our continued collaboration with HBO and the impeccable work of our unparalleled cast and crew.” Previously, Mazin told Deadline, “We feel like it’s almost assuredly going to be the case that — as long as people keep watching and we can keep making more television — Season 3 will be significantly larger. And indeed, the story may require Season 4.”
The second season premieres this Sunday, April 13, with returning cast members Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) joined by newcomers Kaitlyn Dever (Abby) and Gabriel Luna (Tommy). Come take a bite.
