Fyre Festival 2 Is Postponed … Or Is It?

Would you believe a Fyre Festival is having operational issues? Crazy, but true. After first being announced in 2023, then again in 2025, the second Fyre Festival has been postponed. Or maybe it hasn’t. Or it definitely hasn’t, unless they don’t have a location, in which case it has. Got all that?

Can you cancel a postponement?

On April 16, a post went up on the festival’s official website announcing that “FYRE 2 Festival is postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date in the future. If you have purchased tickets already, you will receive an email once the new date is confirmed.” That message was then deleted and replaced with one saying tickets were “currently not available.”

So the fest is back on?

Not so fast! In a statement to NBC News, Billy McFarland said the date was dependent on location. “FYRE Festival 2 is still on,” an additional statement from organizers read. “We are vetting new locations and will announce our host destination soon. Our priorities remain unchanged: delivering an unforgettable, safe, and transparent experience.”

That sounds like they don’t have a location

That’s certainly what the city of Playa del Carmen believes. McFarland said earlier this month that he had been working with city officials to hold the festival there. Playa del Carmen begged to disagree. “In Playa Del Carmen, there will be no event called ‘Fyre 2’,” the city wrote in a post on April 2. “There is no registration nor planning. This government prioritizes order, safety, and truth.”

Have any artists been announced for FYRE 2 Festival?

Nope.

And when would this fest happen if it’s not postponed?

May 30 to June 2. But remember, that’s dependent on the location.
