Deputies are investigating a shooting that they say left a man dead in southwest Miami-Dade’s Naranja area on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened just after 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Southwest 268th Street and Southwest 139th Avenue.

Upon arrival, deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said they located a man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

They said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sky 10 flew over the scene, where deputies were placing caution tape near a wooded area.

Authorities have not released the victim’s age or identity, and no information about a possible suspect or motive has been disclosed at this time.

Detectives said MDSO’s Homicide Bureau will take over the investigation.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
