Blake Lively has been preparing to go to court for quite some time, and now her lawyer, Mike Gottlieb, has confirmed that Lively is planning to testify during her trial against Justin Baldoni. In an interview with People, Gottlieb shared their current trial plans, explaining: “The ultimate moment for a plaintiff’s story to be told is at trial. We expect that to be the case here [with Lively]. So we would, of course, expect her to be a witness at her trial. Of course she’s going to testify.” Gottlieb also implied that Lively isn’t the only person from the set of It Ends With Us who will testify against Baldoni. He continued: “There are individuals that were witnesses to or experienced misconduct that is relevant to Ms. Lively’s claims. We expect their testimony, particularly about what took place on set, will come out through live witness testimony.” An amended complaint filed in February supports Gottlieb’s statement, as Lively added that other actresses on set were uncomfortable with Baldoni’s alleged behavior.
Gottlieb also claimed that subpoenas for Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman are irrelevant to the case at hand. He explained, “This is a case about what happened to Blake Lively when she raised claims of sexual harassment on the set. It’s not a case about how songs were chosen for the movie. It’s not a case about fictional Marvel characters in Deadpool movies.” However, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman countered this by alleging Lively was “the one who brought her high-profile friends into this situation without concern for their own personal or public backlash,” referring to Lively calling Swift and husband Ryan Reynolds her “dragons.”
