Billy Joel has canceled concerts scheduled throughout the next year, following a recent diagnosis of the brain disorder normal pressure hydrocephalus, a condition that occurs when brain fluid builds up inside or around the brain, causing it to malfunction, per the Cleveland Clinic. “This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance,” a May 23 statement shared to Instagram reads. “Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.”
“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” Joel said in his statement. The canceled shows run between April 26, 2025, and July 3, 2026. Previously, on March 11,, Joel postponed his concerts scheduled through July 5, 2025. “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” Joel said in a statement at the time. “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.”
