After drawing crowds at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show with the all-aluminium Tykun X, Med Group has lifted the curtain on a more radical proposition: a hydrogen-powered chaseboat designed not as a concept, but as a build-ready reality. Named the Tykun H1, the 36-footer brings together proven aluminium construction, America’s Cup–level propulsion expertise and a practical approach to clean electric boating.

At the heart of the H1 is a hydrogen fuel-cell system developed with Tesya Group, the engineering specialist behind the hydrogen propulsion used on the chase boats at the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona. The result is an all-electric platform capable of speeds up to 35 knots and a range of up to 60 nautical miles, addressing two of the most persistent challenges facing electric boats: performance and endurance. Built-in redundancy further enhances operational flexibility, an important consideration for both superyacht support roles and high-end dayboating.

Working with designer Tommaso Spadolini, Med Group has integrated the hydrogen system into a hull based on its established naval architecture.

The H1 has been fully engineered and is ready to build, complete with a type-approved hydrogen system and backing from the NatPower H network, which provides access to emerging hydrogen infrastructure. Rather than positioning hydrogen as an experimental technology, Med Group is presenting it as a usable, supported solution for today’s owners.

Working with designer Tommaso Spadolini, Med Group has integrated the hydrogen system into a hull based on its established naval architecture, while retaining the inherent flexibility of aluminium construction. The result is a chaseboat that balances advanced propulsion with simplicity, seaworthiness and customization—aimed squarely at owners looking to embrace zero-emission boating without sacrificing speed, range or practicality.
