The superyachts are always the stars of the charter scene. Twas ever thus, in every harbor, all around the world.

But while all the yacht-spotters have had their binoculars trained on the 300-footers, an unsung revolution has been taking place among charter yachts from about 80 to 130 feet in the Bahamas, Caribbean and beyond. An increasing percentage of these midrange yachts are now offering what used to be considered superyacht-level features, from upgraded types of foldout balconies and terraces to large windows and serious entertainment spaces.

Take the 101-foot Cantiere delle Marche Haze 2, which is a 2025 build available this winter in the Caribbean through Fraser. Haze 2 has features like panoramic wraparound glazing and a concealed tender crane, the kinds of enhanced features that used to be found only on far larger yachts.

Another example is the 90-foot Sanlorenzo Laila, a 2024 build that recently joined the IYC charter fleet. This yacht has 155 gross tons of volume thanks to modern design and construction techniques, making the guest spaces (including a main-deck master) feel far larger than on yachts the same length from just a few years ago.

Yet another example is the 128-foot White Star, which recently joined the Camper & Nicholson charter fleet. This is a 2025 Mangusta with a glass-front plunge pool at the bow. White Star also has a bridge deck aft with dining space that transforms into a dance floor with a custom DJ system. And the yacht’s master stateroom has a balcony with a glass floor—the stuff of superyacht style in the past.

These additions to the midrange fleet exemplify a trend of charter guests being able to have to have big-boat experiences in smaller packages. For anyone who values memorable moments, it’s a welcome trend, indeed.
