Introducing the Royal Huisman Sky Sloop

Royal Huisman’s Sky concept
Royal Huisman says Sky would sail faster than the wind, and faster than a similar-length motoryacht.

For some yacht owners, the idea is that the boat with the most toys wins. For other yacht owners, the dream is to have the fastest yacht on the water. Still other owners want to say that their vessel, in some way or another, surpasses every other private yacht afloat in size.

Those last owners are the ones that Royal Huisman’s Sky seems primarily intended to inspire, though this concept also offers quite a lot for the other personality types, too.

Sky would be the tallest sloop in the world, according to the builder, with an air draft of 305 feet, the same height as the Statue of Liberty. And that height wouldn’t be an incremental advantage over the current record-holder; Royal Huisman says Sky’s rig would set a true new standard, besting today’s leader by about 14 feet. Rondal would supply the carbon mast, boom and integrated sailing system for handling the square top sailplan.

For toy lovers, there would be space for a 39-foot guest tender, a separate crew tender, two water scooters, Seabobs, bikes, paddleboards, kayaks and scuba gear. All without a support vessel.

And in addition to speed, Royal Huisman is promising a helm experience  from this 264-foot-long yacht that rivals the maneuverability and simplicity of a performance sailing yacht smaller than  164 feet. That, indeed, sounds like a ton of fun.

“Every detail is designed to enhance life on board, from wellness zones and water sports areas to entertainment spaces filled with natural light,” says designer Andrew Winch. “Sky is the next generation of sailing yachts with a unique signature in design for a true sailor and innovator.”

Ready to Build

Royal Huisman says most engineering is complete, so this yacht could be delivered by spring 2030.
