Bōte Water Hammock is a Must-See Watertoy

There’s always that one person on the boat who has some kind of a phobia. Maybe the thought of making contact with a jellyfish is simply too much to bear. Or maybe weak swimming skills make any patch of water deeper than a few feet seem like an abyss. Whatever the mental challenge is, that person wants to feel safe and protected. They want to join in the fun, but with a net.

In the case of the Bōte Water Hammock, that net is a mesh bottom stretched across a crowd-size inflatable that keeps everyone supported while slightly submerged, and while keeping all the critters out. The Florida-based brand touts the hammock’s skin as being military-grade, so it’s built to take at least a bit of a beating from active kids of all ages, while D-rings on the sides allow for lines running back to the yacht or to a dock.

These inflatables are also built to calm the nerves of anyone who wants to keep their chilled beverage upright. The inflatables can be ordered with Bōte’s Magnepod system, which has permanently mounted, 2-inch neo-magnets that keep Bōte’s magnetic drinkware (and speakers) standing tall—even amid passing wakes.

The goal, as with all Bōte products, is to help all kinds of people feel comfortable. “My wife, Magda, and I founded Bōte in our garage, with a vision to create a brand that inspires people to get on the water,” said Corey Cooper, co-founder and CEO, when Kent Outdoors acquired Bōte. “That vision resonates with people all over the world.”

Made to Move

These water hammocks deflate down to backpack size for easier stowage in the yacht’s lazarette, and for transporting in the tender to raft-ups or other community events. Grab handles on the side help friends and family feel stable in case of passing wakes in the harbor, while D-rings provide a tie-off spot for lines that connect back to the yacht, or that connect to other floating inflatables.
