Twice Upon a Time … in Hollywood? Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it. Maybe ditch the ellipses? David Fincher is set to direct a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, per The Hollywood Reporter. Written by Tarantino, the sequel will debut on Net-“No theatrical experience, please”-flix. Brad Pitt will reportedly star, presumably reprising his Oscar-winning role as Cliff Booth. Leonardo DiCaprio, who co-starred in the original film, is not yet confirmed to be returning.

Like Kill Bill: Volume 2, Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood 2 does not seem to count toward Tarantino’s self-imposed limit of ten movies. The director-writer is currently stalling on his final film, spending some time in the theater until his kids are old enough to visit his movie set. Per Variety, his allegedly final feature The Movie Critic was rumored to have a script featuring a version of Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth. Technically, Fincher’s new film won’t be a sequel, per THR, because while Tarantino owns the rights to the characters, Sony still owns the rights to the original film. By writing a new movie with the same characters, Tarantino gets to work around it. Hopefully, the casting is as good as in the original, which somehow included Mikey Madison, Maya Hawke, Austin Butler, Margaret Qualley, and Sydney Sweeney. Oscar-winning shoes to fill.
