Amels Launches 120-Meter Flagship Project Tanzanite

Amels has launched its largest yacht to date, the 120-meter Project Tanzanite, from the Damen Yachting facility in Vlissingen, The Netherlands. The full-custom build, previously known as Amels 477, will undergo outfitting ahead of delivery scheduled for 2026.

Construction began in 2020, with the yacht first appearing in June 2023 when she was transported from Damen’s Romanian facility in Galati to Vlissingen. Espen Øino International handled the exterior design, working with Damen Yachting’s in-house naval architects. The result is a sleek, five-deck profile with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, accented by continuous bands of tinted glass.

Project Tanzanite carries an interior volume of 6,083 gross tons and accommodations for 22 guests and 44 crew. Interior renderings released earlier this year show a contemporary, light-filled design, highlighted by a marble staircase encircling an elevator, high ceilings in the main saloon, and neutral-toned furnishings.

Outdoor spaces are arranged for alfresco living, with multiple dining areas and sun loungers spread across expansive teak decks. The yacht’s diesel-electric propulsion package includes four variable-speed generators and twin azipods, delivering a reported top speed of 18 knots.

Build management has been overseen by Deeside Maritime, with more than 1,000 craftsmen and suppliers contributing to the flagship project.

When complete, Project Tanzanite will stand as the largest Amels yacht to date and the brand’s most ambitious collaboration with Øino’s studio.
