The Orient Express Corinthian: A New Era of Luxury Sailing

Luxury travel is set to reach new heights with the unveiling of the Orient Express Corinthian, a sailing yacht that promises to redefine opulence on the high seas. Slated to launch in the summer of 2026, this magnificent vessel will be the world’s largest sailing yacht, measuring an impressive 220 meters (nearly 723 feet). With its sleek design and luxurious amenities, the Corinthian is poised to become a beacon of elegance and sophistication, cruising through the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Caribbean.

A Visionary Design

The Orient Express Corinthian is being crafted by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, one of the largest shipyards in the world, located in Nantes, France. The yacht will feature three inclinable masts, allowing it to harness the power of the wind and reach sailing speeds of up to 17 knots. This innovative design not only enhances performance but also aligns with the growing demand for sustainable luxury travel.

The yacht’s aesthetic is the brainchild of Maxime d’Angeac, the Artistic Director of Orient Express. Known for his work on high-profile projects, including the Guerlain boutique on the Champs-Élysées, d’Angeac’s vision for the Corinthian blends classic elegance with contemporary flair. “All the suites and the entire design of the yacht have been conceived as unique spaces that break the boundaries of Orient Express’s classic decorative grammar while remaining true to its very particular codes,” he explains. The result is a harmonious fusion of mid-century and art-deco influences, adorned with rich leather, opulent red-veined marble, and intricate Greek key patterns.

Luxurious Accommodations

The Orient Express Corinthian will offer a total of 54 cabins, including 48 suites spread across Decks 4, 5, and 6, along with six premium class suites on Deck 7. Each suite is designed with wide, panoramic windows, ensuring that guests can fully immerse themselves in the breathtaking ocean views. The color palette features dark browns, rich oranges, and lavish cream whites, creating an inviting atmosphere that reflects the golden age of travel.

Culinary Delights and Entertainment

Dining aboard the Corinthian will be an experience in itself, with five exquisite restaurants and eight bars, including a vintage-inspired 1930s speakeasy and a Parisian-style cabaret hall influenced by the Moulin Rouge. Guests can indulge in a variety of culinary offerings, from gourmet cuisine to casual fare, all crafted by world-class chefs.

In addition to its dining options, the yacht will boast a range of entertainment facilities, including a swimming pool, spa, movie theatre, and even a recording studio. This blend of relaxation and recreation ensures that every moment spent on board is filled with enjoyment and luxury.

State-of-the-Art Technology

While the Orient Express Corinthian pays homage to the elegance of the past, it is also equipped with cutting-edge technology. The yacht will feature ‘SolidSail’ technology, allowing for full propulsion in favorable weather conditions, and an LNG-powered engine that can run on green hydrogen once approved for ocean-bound passenger ships. This commitment to sustainability reflects a growing trend in the luxury travel industry, where eco-consciousness is becoming increasingly important.

Conclusion

The Orient Express Corinthian is not just a sailing yacht; it is a floating masterpiece that encapsulates the essence of luxury travel. With its stunning design, lavish accommodations, and state-of-the-art technology, it promises to offer an unparalleled experience for those seeking adventure on the high seas. As the world eagerly anticipates its launch in 2026, the Corinthian stands as a testament to the enduring allure of the Orient Express brand, inviting travelers to embark on a journey that marries the romance of the past with the innovations of the future.
