What happens when two queens link up to maximize their joint slay? We get a second movie out of it. Godzilla x Kong: Supernova is in production, Warner Bros. confirmed in a May 9 teaser. Supernova will be the third in the Godzilla x Kong series and the sixth movie in the overall Monsterverse franchise. The previous release was 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which ended up being the most successful film in the Monsterverse, grossing over $570 million against a reported $135 million budget. Clearly, Warner Bros. is hoping for a repeat of its success. And maybe this time they won’t try to convince us that the “x” in Godzilla x Kong is silent.

What’s in the teaser?

The teaser is set in an Arizona-based call center receiving hundreds of notifications regarding a “titan” sighting, panning to a computer screen that displays the phone number (240) MONARCH. If called, a recorded voice memo says “Your help reporting titan sightings plays a critical role in keeping our world safe” before prompting the listener to sign up for text updates about the film.

Who’s in the movie?

Supernova will see the return of Dan Stevens, who plays veterinarian Trapper Beasley in the franchise. He’ll be joined by The Last of Us breakout Kaitlyn Dever, Back to Black’s Jack O’Connell, Stranger Things’s Matthew Modine, and, fresh off Sinners, Delroy Lindo. The film has also cast Alycia Debnam-Carey (Fear the Walking Dead) and Sam Neill, who knows a thing or two about giant lizards from starring in the Jurassic Park movies.

What’s it about?

In the franchise, Godzilla, King Kong, and Mothra are all allies in a lovely friend group that helps protect the earth. What would their group chat name be? The New Empire saw the three titans battle it out with an evil giant ape named Skar King and ended with them going their separate ways. Godzilla was chilling in the Colosseum, Kong led a tribe of massive apes, and Mothra left Earth. While the Supernova plot remains under wraps — and it’s unclear if Mothra will return — the teaser is set in Sedona, Arizona, where the spiderlike titan Scylla reawoke in 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Arachnophobes beware!

When is it coming out?

Godzilla x Kong: Supernova terrorizes theaters March 26, 2027.
