Blood and Guts Are Coming to Disney+

“A lot of time has passed,” Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin intones at the beginning of the new trailer for Daredevil. Enough time to negotiate a transfer of the characters from Netflix to Disney+, to shoot half a show, to scrap that show, and to make a whole new show, in fact. The first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again, starring Charlie Cox as Daredevil for the first time since 2018, debuted January 15. It seems designed to prove to the audience watching at home that the show hasn’t gotten any less violent in the transfer from Daredevil’s original home on Netflix to Born Again’s home on Disney+. We’re talking blood and bones and explosions. Plus, for just a moment, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is back, ax in hand. “It’s hard to come to terms with our violent nature,” Kingpin says. Well, maybe for the Disney execs. The new, just as violent version of Daredevil premieres on Disney+ on March 4, so maybe double-check the parental controls before then.
