Sean “Diddy” Combs’s sex-trafficking trial will include the footage of him assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway, a judge ruled. But in a hearing on April 25, Judge Arun Subramanian ruled the 2016 video can be shown as evidence, Rolling Stone reported. The ruling comes as Cassie Ventura is preparing to testify under her own name as one of Diddy’s victims in the trial. Diddy’s attorneys had motioned for the video to be suppressed last October, claiming it had been leaked to CNN by the Department of Homeland Security to help obtain Diddy’s indictment. More recently, in March, they claimed the video had been sped up and edited to be “deceptive,” which CNN denied.
Prosecutors also revealed during the pretrial hearing that Diddy had turned down a plea deal. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but plea offers are common ahead of trials. Subramanian said he will ask Diddy to confirm he turned down the deal during a hearing on May 1. The trial is then set to begin May 5, after Subramanian ruled against Diddy’s request to delay it by two months.
