Reverse angles can be spectacular.

A few months ago at the Monaco Yacht Show, Italian Sea Group presented the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 101FT. It’s a model that builds on consumer enthusiasm for 2020’s Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, with automotive-inspired details in the yacht design.

Just weeks later, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the reverse happened when Denison Yachting displayed a pair of bespoke Aston Martin V12 Vanquish cars that take design cues from superyachts that Bannenberg & Rowell designed in collaboration with Denison’s team and Turquoise Yachts. The elements of beauty in motion, it seems, truly can flow both ways.

The Aston Martins are one-of-one commissions, a Coupe named Above and a Volante named Beyond. Those names mimic the monikers on the 200-foot-plus superyachts, which are billed as appealing to a new generation of yacht owners. Water-inspired styling elements in the cars include a pinstripe that emulates a boot stripe on a yacht, chrome side strakes with a presence similar to polished on-deck hardware, and upholstery pattern stitching inspired by the look of bow waves underway.

What’s happening in these projects goes beyond, say, a yacht owner painting his power plants Ferrari red to match his sports cars. We’re in an age of appreciation being expressed through infusion. It’s stunning to see.

The Yachts

Above, at 213 feet length overall, and Beyond, at 262 feet, are go-anywhere yachts created in collaboration with the shipyard Turquoise Yachts, the design firm Bannenberg & Rowell and the brokerage house Denison Yachting.
