Deputies investigate death at Palmetto Bay bridge construction site

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies were investigating a death at a bridge construction site in Palmetto Bay Tuesday afternoon, according to an alert sent out by the village.

It happened at the site for the Southwest 87th Avenue bridge over the Cutler Drain Canal.

According to police, officers responded to reports of an unresponsive man and first responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Officials asked residents to avoid the area as investigators worked the scene.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicated that the death was an industrial accident and that there is no foul play suspected.
