This new-to-market 2025 Eclipse 505 Shadow is Hull No. 1, and it’s a yacht aimed at owners who enjoy the high performance of outboard power combined with timeless Downeast-inspired lines, luxe amenities and a bevy of notable options.

When it comes to speed, the Eclipse 505 Shadow is powered by triple 600 hp V12 Mercury Verados and runs on Michael Peters’ patented Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel hull form, which provides lift and reduces hydrodynamic drag. The dual-stepped hull should help provide a 35- to 36-knot cruise with a top hop around 46 to 47 knots, depending on load and conditions.

Supporting the hull is a robust build with resin-infused construction in E-glass with PVC foam coring and vinylester resin. Carbon fiber reinforces high-stress areas, and interior bulkheads are cored to reduce overall weight.

Performance is key for this express cruiser, but so is entertaining. The teak cockpit has an L-shaped settee around a folding high-gloss table to starboard. This area can be shaded with an awning and in-deck poles when the sun is high. Two barstools and a countertop are to port, and with the aft-galley window down there is seamless connection between inside and outside. A foldout terrace to port increases usable cockpit real estate and provides quick water access. Foredeck seating offers a spot for enjoying sundowners at anchor with friends.

The galley is aft and to port, equipped with Thermador appliances, including a four-burner induction cooktop, two undercounter fridge and freezer drawers, a microwave/convection oven and more. And yes, there’s a wine cooler.

The salon layout includes a U-shaped dinette to port with the helm to starboard, keeping everyone within earshot underway. Nearly 360 degrees of glass gives guests excellent views, while an 8-foot-6-inch by 6-foot-11-inch retractable sunroof adds sun and an open-boat feel when desired. Otherwise, the 16,000-BTU air-conditioning system keeps everyone chillin’, literally.

Belowdecks, the Eclipse 505 Shadow has a two-stateroom, two-head arrangement, both air conditioned. The owners’ stateroom is forward with a queen berth, while the guest stateroom has twin berths that convert to a double for couples.

For owners seeking a midsize, cruiseworthy yacht with an ageless profile combined with modern technology and first-rate finishes, the Eclipse 505 Shadow is worth a closer look
