Kimberlin Brown: Crafting Nature-Inspired Jewelry in NYC

A Greenwich Native’s Journey

Kimberlin Brown, a talented jewelry designer hailing from Greenwich, has made a name for herself in the world of fine jewelry. Her creations, inspired by the beauty of nature, have caught the attention of numerous celebrities, including Walton Goggins, Susan Sarandon, and Adele. Each piece is meticulously crafted in her New York City studio, where Kimberlin combines her artistic vision with a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Celebrity Endorsements

Fans of the hit show White Lotus may recognize Walton Goggins, who plays Rick in the series’ third season. Goggins has become a notable advocate for Kimberlin’s jewelry, first discovering her work at a SoHo boutique called Love Adorned. He purchased a stunning opal ring for his wife, writer and director Nadia Conners, and the couple quickly became ardent supporters of Kimberlin’s artistry.

During a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, Goggins showcased a striking piece featuring a custom-cut faceted Labradorite stone set in 18K gold, flanked by two vibrant Zambian emeralds. Kimberlin recalls his reaction: “When he tried it on, he said, ‘This is art.’” His appreciation for her work extends to various events, including a gala at the Guggenheim, where he was seen wearing one of her rings.

A Star-Studded Clientele

Goggins is not alone in his admiration for Kimberlin’s jewelry. Other celebrities, including Adele, Naomi Watts, Katie Lee, and Rachael Ray, have adorned themselves with her creations. Susan Sarandon has purchased an opal ring, while Whoopi Goldberg customized a pussy willow bracelet with added pearls. Each piece in Kimberlin’s collection is crafted with care, utilizing only 18K gold and rose-cut diamonds, which she describes as having a quality reminiscent of “the sun shimmering on water.”

Artistic Roots and Education

Kimberlin’s passion for art and nature began in her childhood in Greenwich. She took numerous art classes at Greenwich High School, the Bruce Museum, and the Greenwich Arts Society. Her artistic journey continued at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she earned her BFA in fine arts. Further honing her skills, she traveled to Copenhagen for a workshop at Georg Jensen’s studio and apprenticed with a master goldsmith in Tuscany.

Nature as Inspiration

Growing up in Greenwich, Kimberlin often visited Tod’s Point, a local beach that sparked her love for the sea. “I tell people it’s a beach town. I have pictures of myself as a kid going to the beach,” she reflects. This connection to nature profoundly influences her collections, which include themes like Sea Anemone, Celestial Shore, Woodland Walk, and Galaxy.

Commitment to Conservation

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Kimberlin is a passionate advocate for coral conservation. She collaborates with organizations such as Sea Web and Oceana, promoting the idea that real coral should never be used in jewelry. “It’s too precious of a living creature that is essential to ocean health,” she emphasizes. Her commitment to sustainability extends to her sourcing practices, as she works closely with family-run mines and eco-conscious operations like Gemfields, which prioritize community welfare.

Upcoming Projects

Currently, Kimberlin is developing a capsule collection for ABC Carpet and Home on Greenwich Avenue. Her jewelry is also available at select boutiques, including Toujours Midi in Nantucket, Forty Five Ten in Dallas, and Madlords in Paris and St. Tropez.
