Halle Bailey and her son Halo were granted a restraining order against Bailey’s ex and Halo’s father, the YouTuber and rapper DDG (legal name Darryl Granberry Jr.), according to May 13 filings obtained by Vulture. In the court documents, Bailey alleges multiple instances of violent behavior and says she is “seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.” He must stay at least 100 yards away from Bailey and Halo until their hearing on June 6. Additionally, she can take Halo with her to Italy, where she is going to film a new movie, for eight weeks beginning June 7.
Bailey also requested that DDG be barred from discussing her on social-media platforms, including on his livestreams. Court documents cite DDG’s May 5 Twitch livestream, broadcasted while Bailey attended the Met Gala. “He went live on his Twitch channel voicing that he was unable to see his son, implying that I was keeping Halo from him,” she says in the filing. “He then created a fire storm of media around ‘freeing Halo’ from me.” Online personalities including DJ Akademiks have fueled speculation that Bailey was lying about her relationship with DDG. She added that “given the fact that Darryl’s Mother and I had texted about my whereabouts a week prior, and Darryl did not wish to see Halo after his last visit, the timing of his Twitch posts was intended to ruin my night, which it did.”
The first alleged instance of abuse took place in January, after the two broke up in October 2024. Bailey says DDG came over to pick up Halo and when she started a conversation about Halo’s visitation schedule, he told her, “Get out of my car, BITCH,” multiple times, per TMZ. Bailey grew nervous about leaving Halo with him, and “we fought each other, wrestling and tussling,” according to BBC. “At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain.” Bailey included photos of bruises on her arms and a chipped tooth in the claim.
On March 3, Bailey claims DDG entered her home without permission, took a photo of her bed captioned, “now I know what u been on lol,” and accused her of having sex with other men. When Bailey says she didn’t want to let him take a sick Halo, DDG allegedly yelled at her, unplugged her Ring doorbell, and threw it when he realized it was recording him. After Bailey went outside to get the doorbell, the filing alleges that Granberry locked her out of her house. Upon realizing the Ring was still recording, he allegedly smashed it. He then took her phone and threw it out the car window as he left, yelling, “Go get it, bitch!” “As a result of this incident,” Bailey says, she filed a police report.
DDG reacted to the restraining order live on video-game streamer and Trump advocate Adin Ross’s Twitch stream the night of May 13. A confused and indignant DDG read the TMZ report, saying in response, “But that can’t even be real.” According to court documents, a judge granted Bailey an ex parte order, a legal decision made without a response from the other side, due to her fear “that the violence would reoccur when I gave notice that I was asking for these orders” or “that the other party would take the children out of the area before the order could be granted and served.”
