A Luxurious Escape: Discovering Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza

Sitting under the scorching Ibizan sun by the pool, I took refuge in the shade as my platter of sushi arrived. The eye-catching spread of delicately crafted bites was devoured with gusto, and I hadn’t had to move a muscle to order. A simple tap on the bell at each poolside lounger magically summoned a waiter eager to take my food and drink order. It’s a dangerous game once you’re settled in for a period of time—fruity cocktails and carefully crafted food arrive as and when you wish, offering the perfect way to relax between days of exploring the island or recovering from a late night with friends.

Perhaps you’ve traveled here just for this—complete and utter relaxation, to be waited on hand and foot as you step away from reality for a short while on this popular Balearic isle. Ibiza is the ideal place to retreat for a long weekend or an extended break. Just two hours from the calm of London City Airport, you’ll find yourself on the white isle, ready to explore, relax, party, or enjoy all of the above.

Hotel

Upon checking in at Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza in May for a little pre-summer sun, I was immediately captivated by the hotel’s grandeur. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows filled the space with light, creating a cool, chic, and contemporary atmosphere that perfectly matched the décor. Soft tunes complemented the ambiance, while an abundance of plants and colorful artworks adorned the public areas, many of which are available for purchase.

The hotel offers a variety of lounging options, from plush chairs to cozy sofas, making it an ideal spot to catch up with friends between meals or while relaxing poolside. For an upgraded experience, consider Amàre The One, where you’ll stay in the best rooms and gain access to a stylish private lounge offering snacks and drinks throughout the day, all with stunning views across the water. A courtesy room for guests with later flights is a thoughtful touch, allowing you to freshen up after enjoying extra time at the pool or exploring the island.

Adults of all ages can be found enjoying live music and DJ sets as they sunbathe by the pool or on the rooftop, making it the perfect spot for those who want to enjoy the top clubs of nearby San Antonio while staying slightly removed from the main action.

Room

The hotel features 366 rooms spread across two buildings, seamlessly connected on the ground floor. Each room boasts a bright, breezy, and fresh vibe, with a cool open-plan aesthetic that maximizes space. Clever design touches, like a hanging chair that eliminates the need for a sofa, and an open wardrobe with slim furniture, enhance the experience.

Natural light filters through a glass shower back to the vanity area, while a slim desk area is paired with a stool and sockets for those who need to get some work done. However, I’d recommend taking your laptop outside to the balcony to enjoy the view of the bay instead. As a user of The One service, you’ll find cozy bathrobes for post-shower comfort, a large TV for winding down, and a fully stocked minibar, kettle, and coffee machine. A QR code allows easy access to the hotel’s website for information on restaurants and events throughout your stay.

Food

Breakfast at the Mare Nostrum buffet restaurant is a decadent affair, featuring everything you could want to start your day right. Enjoy a leisurely meal outside, soaking up the morning sun while indulging in juices, fruits, pastries, and an omelette station that’s a must-visit. This feast sets you up perfectly for a day by the pool or exploring the island.

Light lunches or nibbles can be enjoyed throughout the day at The One buffet, alongside refreshing drinks like gin and tonics or mimosas. Think goats’ cheese tarts, Parma ham sandwiches, and mini brownie bites. If you prefer to stay put, lunch by the pool is a dream. Simply scan the QR code to view the menu, and press the buzzer for a waiter to take your order without you having to move a muscle. The sushi platter I enjoyed was divine, especially the crispy prawn sushi, washed down with an Aperol Spritz—a fine way to dine indeed.

For dinner, a pre-dinner cocktail at the Belvue Rooftop Bar at sunset is an absolute must. The Ibizan sunsets are sublime, and you’ll need no filter for photos of the burning orange sky. Afterward, head to Hayaca for a taste of specialties from Peru, Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, crafted by chef Mauricio Giovanini, whose Messina restaurant has earned a Michelin Star. I savored crispy fried prawns with satay sauce and a mojito, followed by a Wagyu rump steak served with French fries.

Dinner at Mare Nostrum offers a varied buffet selection, including mini salads, sushi, and freshly prepared dishes. I indulged in a couple of glasses of Malbec and finished with a selection of ice creams alongside chocolate brownie pieces and profiteroles.

Spa

The spa at Amàre offers a serene spot to relax and enjoy a treatment. While a massage under a cabana at the pool looked inviting, I opted for the indoor sanctuary, complete with soothing music, glorious scents, and low lighting. My Asia spa treatment involved a shiatsu massage on pressure points and a head-to-toe massage, expertly delivered by the petite Marta. She worked wonders on my lower back and neck, releasing tension I didn’t even realize I had. The leg massage was wonderfully relaxing, and the scalp rub was the cherry on top of a blissful experience.

To Do

Amàre is a place where you can slow down, sit by the pool, or on a daybed at the rooftop and simply relax with friends or loved ones. For those looking to be more active, there’s a gym with a stunning view of the bay, or you can participate in one of the yoga classes. Morning yoga sessions are a lovely way to start the day, often held on the rooftop for superior views.

Party enthusiasts can easily head to nearby San Antonio, just a 10-minute taxi ride away, to enjoy the vibrant nightlife. From Café Mambo to Eden and Es Paradis, there’s a great selection of bars and clubs. For a more cultural experience, visit Las Dalias market in Sant Carles, where you can explore 300 stalls filled with handmade goods. A visit to Ibiza Town is also a must, where you can wander the cobbled streets of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Dalt Vila, enjoying excellent views and delightful cafés.

In a Nutshell

Ibiza is renowned for its party resorts, but anyone who has visited knows there’s so much more to this Balearic isle than nightclubs and boozy nights out. Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza offers the ideal spot to relax between explorations, but once you’ve found your spot by the pool, you might not want to leave at all.
