The Miami Dolphins re-signed defensive tackle Benito Jones on Thursday.

The exact terms of his new deal were not immediately released.

Jones, who originally joined Miami as an undrafted free agent in 2020, has played in 57 career games with 30 starts over four seasons with the Dolphins and Detroit Lions.

He has recorded 68 tackles (31 solo), 2.5 sacks, and two passes defensed. He also appeared in three playoff games, making one solo tackle.

After spending two seasons in Detroit (2022-23), Jones returned to Miami as a free agent on March 18, 2024.

Last season, he played in all 17 games for the Dolphins, starting 15 and finishing with 24 tackles (nine solo). He previously played in six games for Miami as a rookie in 2020 and spent the following season on the practice squad.

Before his NFL career, Jones played college football at Ole Miss from 2016 to 2019, where he appeared in 48 games with 36 starts. He tallied 132 tackles (66 solo), 10.5 sacks, an interception, a pass defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

The Dolphins made sure Jones would keep his talents in Miami after losing defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand to the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency.

It also comes a year after Miami chose not to re-sign defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, who signed a four-year, $110 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders but missed 12 games in the 2024 season after landing on injured reserve with a Jones fracture.
