North Miami police confirmed the arrest of 37-year-old Loubens Moricette on Wednesday, charging him with armed robbery and armed burglary.

The video shows Moricette pulling out a shotgun after receiving a food order, then climbing through the window in what investigators are calling a “brazen act of violence.”

Police said the robbery took place around 2 a.m. on Feb. 13 at the Checkers located at 13495 NW Seventh Ave.

According to the arrest report, Moricette had just placed a food order from his SUV when he brandished the shotgun, ordered an employee to move away from the window, and then entered the restaurant through the drive-thru opening.

The employee fled in fear, while two others hid in a back office, police said. The suspect then grabbed cash from the register before fleeing the scene, according to investigators.

Officers faced challenges identifying the suspect due to the use of a mask, but police said they were ultimately able to track down Moricette late last month.

He was arrested Wednesday at a home in unincorporated Westview, according to authorities.

Police said Moricette, a Bahamian national listed as homeless in his arrest report, confessed to the robbery during questioning.

Bahamian news outlets have linked a person with the same name to prior convictions, including an armed robbery and illegal possession of a loaded assault rifle.

In addition to the Checkers case, Moricette faces charges in other incidents involving grand theft auto, cocaine possession, and carrying a concealed weapon as an unauthorized immigrant.

He remains in custody on no bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday.

Authorities are investigating whether Moricette may be connected to other crimes in the area.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
