Numarine’s New Flagship: 47MXP

The Turkish yacht builder Numarine has unveiled a new flagship: the 153-foot Numarine 47MXP.

MXP stands for “Mediterranean Explorer.” The idea is to have a yacht with features that inspire today’s growing cadre of clients who are seeking far more adventurous experiences than sitting alongside the dock in St. Barts.

It’s an interesting time for Numarine to introduce this new flagship. Yacht builders in all kinds of size ranges have been reporting that younger clients, in particular, want yachts capable of true exploration. This quest for unusual itineraries is a trend that builds on years’ worth of research showing that many of today’s high-net-worth individuals want to invest in priceless experiences even more so than priceless things.

The Numarine 47MXP appears well-designed to satisfy this community of experience seekers, giving them a way to cruise just about anywhere in style and comfort. The 47MXP’s range, according to Numarine, is 6,000 nautical miles at 9 knots. That is well beyond transatlantic territory, and it opens up all kinds of possibilities for itineraries that can include off-the-beaten-course destinations without a need to rush back to shore for refueling.

Speed is also important with this kind of cruising, especially for the capability to outrun foul weather in remote destinations that lack shoreside infrastructure. Whereas yachts hugging the coast of the Mediterranean have numerous options to pull into a marina and avoid a storm, yachts off exploring the more remote archipelagos of the South Pacific have to be more self-sufficient with different capabilities.

To that end, the Numarine 47MXP is equipped with twin MAN 1,450 hp engines that provide a reported top speed of 16 knots. That kind of power should give captains plenty of options for dealing with Mother Nature, even when setting a course for more distant horizons.

Cruise speed on the 47MXP is 12 knots, according to the builder. That means today’s more eco-minded cruisers should also be able to achieve some fuel economy without having to sacrifice too much time while cruising between waypoints.

Gross tonnage on the Numarine 47MXP is 498, keeping the yacht below the 500-gross-ton mark that triggers increased regulations and costs of ownership. Within that steel hull and aluminum superstructure, Numarine has worked with the Italian design studio Hot Lab to create an interior that’s described as “warm and elegant.”

Imagery from the shipyard shows a palette of light, natural woods with a neutral and white décor that feels simultaneously contemporary and comfortable. There are six guest staterooms, including the master stateroom on the main deck with a private terrace. Imagery released by Numarine shows this stateroom with a bed facing a nearly full wall of glass for broad views of the outdoors—giving owners the ability to soak in every moment of those truly unforgettable experiences in remote destinations.

Guest areas on the 47MXP: Numarine’s team seems particularly excited about this yacht’s outdoor guest areas, which include a pool on the bow as well as a second pool at the beach club. That beach club area is redesigned from previous models to include balconies, which expand the real estate for watersports, sunbathing and dance parties under the stars. “This enhancement represents a significant step in our philosophy of blending adventure with unparalleled comfort,” Ömer Malaz, chairman of Numarine, stated in a press release.
