A 15-year-old boy appeared in juvenile court on Friday after he allegedly made threats against a Broward County high school.
According to the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Lucas Gonzalez threatened to “shoot up” Charles W. Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines.
Gonzalez, a 10th-grade student at South Broward High School in Hollywood, wrote it in a group conversation on Snapchat. One of the students in the group called 911.
A law enforcement team responded to Gonzalez’s home and arrested him, police said. He faces a felony charge of electronic threats to kill.
While in court, Gonzalez’s defense attorney told the judge the student did not have a criminal record and he described him as a good kid who was goofing around.
The judge ordered that Gonzalez undergo a psychological evaluation and a threat assessment.
