Schaefer’s V‑Line Anchors Largest U.S. Display at Palm Beach International Boat Show 2026

The Palm Beach International Boat Show 2026 provided a clear moment of arrival for Schaefer Yachts in the United States. The Florianópolis builder mounted its largest U.S. display to date, exhibiting the V33 Sport Fish, V34, V44 and the newly launched 380 (listed at the show as a “375 Schaefer”) from March 25–29—an exhibition that distilled the company’s approach: compact hulls with big‑boat thinking.

From a Brazilian island yard to a U.S. show dock

Founded in 1992 by yacht designer Márcio Schaefer, the shipyard has expanded into one of Brazil’s largest builders. Over three decades Schaefer Yachts has produced more than 4,000 boats across a lineup that now stretches from 32 ft to 83 ft. The company’s island location in Santa Catarina allows sea trials in challenging Atlantic conditions, while its vertical manufacturing model—five‑axis CNC milling, in‑house carpentry and upholstery and vacuum‑infusion hull construction—gives the yard tight control over quality and bespoke options.

The PBIBS lineup: versatility and space optimisation

Schaefer’s show roster highlighted two consistent themes: versatility for mixed use (fishing, water sports, entertaining) and maximising outdoor living in relatively compact hulls.

  • V33 Sport Fish (V33 SF) — The sport‑fishing variant of the V‑line shares the V33 hull (33.9 ft LOA, 11 ft beam, 1.6 ft draft, 10,900 lb displacement) and adds fishing‑specific gear: live‑wells, large fish boxes, bolsters, electric‑reel outlets and spreader lights. Owners can specify single or twin inboards or twin outboards. Below deck, the cabin sleeps two and includes a full‑height head.
  • V34 — A design that leans toward social cruising: a large hard top and windshield, a convertible aft section that becomes a sunbed, and a standing‑height bathroom in a cabin for two. Like the V33, it measures 33.9 ft LOA with an 11 ft beam and 1.6 ft draft, prioritising wide exterior seating and connected cockpit flow.
  • V44 — Introduced in 2024 and presented at PBIBS as a centrepiece, the 44.8 ft V44 expands the V‑line’s footprint. Its single‑level cockpit converts into a beach club through two hydraulic balconies (each roughly 8 ft) and a hydraulic swim platform. The interior accommodates four overnight guests with 6 ft 3 in headroom, a full galley and separate shower. Propulsion choices include triple Mercury V10 400 hp or V12 600 hp outboards, or diesel stern‑drive or pod‑drive alternatives.
  • Schaefer 380 (listed at PBIBS as “375 Schaefer”) — A rethought express cruiser that aims to deliver big‑boat amenities in a 40‑ft footprint. The deck offers options—gourmet station or sun‑pad/bench—and side balconies are standard. A hard top with retractable roof and a walkthrough windshield enhance deck access; below, the cabin sleeps four with a separate shower and full galley. The outboard and inboard versions differ slightly in LOA but share a 12 ft beam and similar displacement and tankage figures.

Why this display matters

Schaefer’s PBIBS presentation is notable on several counts. It was the company’s largest U.S. showing to date and it underlined the brand’s effort to translate Brazilian design sensibilities—open, social cockpits and clever use of exterior volume—into models adapted for North American tastes. The hydraulic balconies on the V44 and the side balconies on the 380 are practical expressions of a wider industry trend: maximising usable deck space and creating seamless transitions between cockpit and water.

Equally significant is how Schaefer’s manufacturing model supports this product strategy. Vertical integration—controlling tooling, carpentry and upholstery—allows rapid customisation and consistent build standards, attributes that can accelerate a brand’s dealer network growth and aftersales support in a new market. The company’s U.S. presence, including a Fort Lauderdale office and expanding dealer relationships, suggests the yard is building infrastructure to match its show ambitions.

Key highlights

  • Largest U.S. display to date: V33 SF, V34, V44 and Schaefer 380 exhibited at PBIBS 2026 (March 25–29).
  • V‑line ethos: compact hulls with flexible layouts for fishing, cruising and entertaining.
  • Notable features: hydraulic balconies on the V44, convertible aft sections on the V34 and retractable hard top on the 380.
  • Manufacturing strengths: near‑vertical integration with five‑axis CNC, in‑house carpentry/upholstery and vacuum‑infusion hulls.
  • Range breadth: Schaefer’s portfolio extends to flybridge and express yachts up to 83 ft, positioning the brand across multiple segments.

At Palm Beach, Schaefer distilled its message: smartly engineered boats that prioritise outdoor living and practical luxury. For buyers seeking an alternative to established European and North American builders, Schaefer’s mix of scale, in‑house production and modern Brazilian design offers a compelling proposition—one the company appears intent on amplifying as it deepens its U.S. footprint.
