After telling the world she thinks she’s done with music, Selena Gomez just played the biggest Uno reverse card. Right before Valentine’s Day, Gomez announced her next album in collaboration with her fiancé Benny Blanco. “I always trick you guys 🥰,” Gomez teased alongside the album cover for I Said I Love You First, coming out on March 21. Gomez and Blanco first met in the studio, working on songs like “Same Old Love” and “Kill Em With Kindness” on Revival. Has their musical collaboration grown as much as their relationship has in the past few years? Here’s everything we know about their upcoming album.

What’s the album about?

Love, baby! According to the initial press release, I Said I Love You First “came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences. It chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds.”

Are Gracie Abrams and Selena Gomez collaborating?

Possibly. On February 17, Blanco posted a video opening a door to reveal Gomez and Abrams posing on the bed like they were gossiping at a sleepover. Abrams toured with Gomez’s bestie Taylor Swift two summers ago so surely Gomez has become a fan, especially after “That’s so true” started trending on TikTok. Who’s to say the two haven’t hit the studio with Blanco, after all there’s 14 tracks to the new album.

14 songs?!

Yep! During the announcement post, Gomez shared there will be 14 songs on the standard edition of the album, as their first single is the bookend to the first chapter of their love story — it came out on Valentine’s Day, so it has to be cute and cheesy! Like queso.

What’s the first single off the album?

Their first single, “Scared of Loving You” is out now and is sung by Gomez and produced by Blanco and… Finneas? How many thirds are they adding to the album? And how much long will we have to wait until we find out if Jack Antonoff is involved or not?

When did Selena Gomez say she was retiring from music?

Earlier in February, Gomez shared that it was “going to be really hard to go back to music” after acting in Emilia Pérez, not because of the film’s controversy but because she enjoyed acting in general. There were audible sighs from fans in the audience at her event. But surely tonight, Gomez is sitting at home with a coffee cup in her hand like a mother on Christmas as her children open up the gifts she said they weren’t getting. Gomez had previously teased a break from music but usually followed with some promise of a return in the distant future.
