Seven Chilean Nationals Arrested in String of High-Profile Burglaries Across New Jersey and Massachusetts

In a significant law enforcement operation, seven Chilean nationals have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of residential burglaries that targeted luxury items and cash in New Jersey and Massachusetts. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the arrests on Thursday, shedding light on a sophisticated burglary ring that has left a trail of over $100,000 in losses for victims.

The Modus Operandi

The burglaries primarily focused on affluent neighborhoods, with one notable incident occurring in Colts Neck, New Jersey. On November 15, 2024, police responded to a burglary alarm at a residence where they discovered a rear window had been broken and the interior of the home had been ransacked. The homeowners reported that several high-value items, including luxury watches, designer handbags, and cash, were missing.

Authorities quickly identified a rental vehicle used by the suspects, which had been tracked via GPS to the scene of the Colts Neck burglary. This vehicle was later traced to a short-term vacation rental in Keansburg, New Jersey, where security footage captured six suspects shortly after the crime. One individual was seen carrying a device designed to obscure license plates, indicating a level of planning and sophistication in their criminal activities.

A Broader Criminal Network

The investigation revealed that the burglary ring was not limited to New Jersey. The suspects also targeted homes in Massachusetts, where another burglary was reported in Westwood on November 17, 2024. This incident involved the theft of several luxury wristwatches, further highlighting the ring’s focus on high-value items.

As the investigation progressed, law enforcement utilized various tools, including license plate readers and GPS tracking, to monitor the suspects’ movements. The rental vehicle linked to the Colts Neck burglary was spotted in the vicinity of the Westwood incident, and it was later identified at a gas station in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Arrests and Evidence Collection

The coordinated efforts of law enforcement culminated in a series of arrests. On November 18, 2024, officers in Wellesley, Massachusetts, responded to a residential burglary alarm and apprehended one of the suspects. Three additional suspects were captured in Spring Valley, New York, after their vehicle was located using GPS technology.

Two other suspects managed to flee across the country but were eventually tracked down in the Seattle area around January 8, 2025. Following their apprehension, investigators executed court-authorized searches, leading to the discovery of bags filled with stolen jewelry, designer items, and cash at both the rental vehicle and a rental home in Carlton, Oregon.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

The seven suspects—identified as Christofer Sanguesa Aguirre, Fabiana Prado Scatarzi, Santana Arturo Castillo Gonzalez, Felip Andres Del Valle Munoz, Carlos Alfredo Calderon Valencia, Diego Antonio Calderon Leiva, and Pedro Alejandro—have been charged with conspiracy to sell and receive stolen property, as well as receiving stolen property that crossed state lines.

Several of the suspects appeared in federal court across various locations, including Newark, Tacoma, and Boston, where they were detained pending further legal proceedings. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the full extent of the burglary ring’s operations.

Community Impact and Response

The string of burglaries has left residents in affected areas feeling vulnerable and concerned about their safety. Local law enforcement agencies are urging homeowners to enhance their security measures and remain vigilant against potential criminal activities. The swift action taken by law enforcement in apprehending the suspects demonstrates a commitment to protecting communities from such sophisticated criminal enterprises.

As the legal process unfolds, the community watches closely, hoping for justice and a sense of security to be restored. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public in combating crime and ensuring safety in neighborhoods.

In conclusion, the arrests of these seven individuals mark a significant step in addressing the rise of organized burglary rings that target affluent communities. The ongoing investigation will likely reveal more about their operations and potentially lead to further arrests.
