One of the “Hands Off!” protests was held Saturday morning at Young Circle in Hollywood. More than 2,000 people attended.

Protesters are assailing the Trump administration’s moves to fire thousands of federal workers, close Social Security Administration field offices, effectively shutter entire agencies, deport immigrants, scale back protections for transgender people and cut federal funding for health programs.

One sign at the Hollywood protest also lamented “terrible tariffs” that sent the stock market into a tailspin after Trump announced them.

“We want our voices heard and we want Donald Trump and Elon Musk to get out of — especially Elon Musk — to get out of our government,” one protester said.

Other protests were held in Key West, Miami and Tamarac.

In Tamarac, protester Lenny Jasko said, “I don’t know that individually we make much of an impact, but together we can certainly make our voices heard.”

More than 1,200 demonstrations have been planned across the country by more than 150 groups.
