A weak cold front made its way through South Florida on Monday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures and a refreshing breeze across the region.

Local 10 Meteorologist Betty Davis said Monday’s high temperatures still reached the low 80s in some areas, but by the evening, much of South Florida had cooled into the 70s, with Miami at 77 degrees and Fort Lauderdale at 75.

A northeast wind and lower dew points added a more comfortable feel to the air.

“Not necessarily the strongest cold front, but it did a little something,” Davis said.

Clouds are expected to linger overnight, with temperatures dipping to around 70 degrees, and some inland areas possibly reaching the upper 60s. A few spotty showers remain possible, particularly in deep South Miami-Dade and over the Atlantic waters near the Keys.

Looking ahead, another, more powerful cold front is expected to arrive later in the week, bringing scattered showers Wednesday before delivering drier, cooler air by Thursday.

Davis said highs are expected to drop into the upper 70s, and overnight temperatures could fall near 60 degrees, with some inland spots dipping into the 50s.

“If you put away the winter weather gear thinking we won’t get chilly weather anymore for the season, you may not be right about that,” Davis said.
