The Avengers: Doomsday Cast Is Assembling

We hope you’re sitting down — because the full cast of Avengers: Doomsday is about to as well. One by one, Marvel revealed the cast it assembled on a social-media livestream on March 26, showing the actors’ names on the backs of director’s chairs. The stream went for five-and-a-half hours, concluding with the previously announced Robert Downey Jr. — now playing Doctor Doom — walking on to the set and sitting in his chair.

The cast is heavy on Marvel’s newer stars, including Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, and Pedro Pascal, all of whom are set to make their Marvel debut later this year in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Lewis Pullman, who will do the same in Thunderbolts. On the other end, Chris Hemsworth is once again set to return as Thor, after appearing in the first Avengers in 2011. To the dismay of fans, WandaVision’s Elizabeth Olsen was not among the 27 stars revealed, after sharing just days before that she wouldn’t be appearing in future Avengers films.

The film will have some surprising appearances from the X-Men world. Ian McKellen is back as Magneto and James Marsden as Cyclops for the first time since 2014’s Days of Future Past, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler for the first time since 2003’s X2, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique for the first time since 2011’s X-Men: First Class. Also notably featured is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Tenoch Huerta Mejía in one of his first roles since musician María Elena Ríos accused him of being a sexual predator in 2023.
