Trace Cyrus has a message for his dad, Billy Ray. The former Metro Station singer posted a letter to Billy Ray Cyrus on Instagram, claiming his father is “not healthy” and “everyone is noticing it.” “It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you,” Trace wrote. The letter came days after Billy Ray made a scene over technical difficulties at his Inauguration Day performance, but Trace did not mention that. “Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away,” he wrote, referring to his sisters, Miley, Noah, and Brandi. “Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better.”

Trace did not specify his father’s health struggles but did mention his own sobriety in the post. “We haven’t talked in a while but I’m over a year and half clean from alcohol,” he wrote. “Guess what? I feel amazing … I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help.”

Billy Ray’s relationship with his family has been troubled for years. His divorce from his wife, Tish, in 2022, and subsequent marriage to singer Firerose reportedly distanced him from Miley. But Noah and her brother, Braison, continued showing support for Billy Ray. Fans later noticed that Miley neglected to mention her father while shouting out her mother in an acceptance speech at last year’s Grammys. Last June, Billy Ray tried reaching out to Miley in an Instagram post, days before reports of his divorce from Firerose. “She’s a survivor and a true artist,” he wrote of Miley. “She learned early on to love and appreciate the fans who make everything possible.” Days later, Miley spoke to David Letterman about her parents’ divorce. “Honestly, my mom is my hero,” she said. “My father — I’m grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. He’s almost given me this map. There is a map of what to do and what not to do. And he’s guided me on both.”
