The crash happened at around 1:45 p.m. in the 20-year-old athlete’s hometown of Largo, in Pinellas County, authorities confirmed.

According to the Largo Police Department, 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria were killed when a Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul turning left at an intersection.

Police haven’t provided information about Hayes’ condition or whether he was driving at the time. A spokesperson told Local 10 News the investigation is “active and ongoing.”

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police said.

Teammates and others associated with the Hurricanes have posted social media messages encouraging prayers for Hayes.
