Why Did Morgan Wallen Walk Off SNL?

Morgan Wallen can’t have a normal time on Saturday Night Live, can he? The country singer had his first SNL appearance cancelled for violating COVID protocols. Then he did a self-ribbing sketch about the controversy, before diving headfirst into new, worse and more hate-filled ones. Wallen managed to get through almost all of March 29’s episode of SNL, hosted by Mikey Madison, without a big kerfuffle. But then came goodnights. As soon as Madison finished thanking everyone for the best week of her life, wow what an honor etc., Wallen nope’d right off the stage and out of Studio 8H. Shortly after, Wallen posted on his Instagram stories a pic of a private plane (relatable!) captioned “Get me to God’s country.”

People online are theorizing why Wallen left the show so abruptly, rather than staying to hug it out with the Not Ready for Prime Time Players and listening to Lenny Pickett absolutely wail on that sax. There could be so many reasons why he had to skedaddle out of 30 Rock, such as:

➽ He really had to pee
➽ Didn’t want to force Bowen Yang into yet another “hug/not hug” discourse thing on Twitter
➽ The love of his life is going to marry someone else unless he gets on that plane right now and stops them!
➽ No chairs to throw 🙁
➽ He is scared of saxophones
➽ Girl, the solar eclipse in Aries
➽ The sooner he gets off stage, the sooner he can start working on the thank-you cards for the entire cast and crew
➽ A handler just off-screen has his zyn and he needs it BAD
