Sean “Diddy” Combs’s sex-trafficking trial continues on May 7 with the third day of jury selection in Manhattan federal court. Jurors again had no reaction to seeing Diddy upon entering or leaving the court even with him watching and sometimes nodding slightly. After being questioned one by one for potential bias, the remaining jurors proceeded to a round of questioning as a group. They provided basic biographical details including information about their employment, their families, as well as their television habits and musical tastes.
Judge Arun Subramanian previously said that he wanted a total of 45 prospective jurors to make it to the group-questioning stage. This number would mean that, even after both sides exercise their peremptory challenges, there would be enough people remaining to form a jury. (Twelve jurors and six alternates.) With the prospects from Wednesday, a total of forty-five made it to group questioning rounds. Both the prosecution and defense said in court on May 6 that they expect to reach that number on Wednesday. Both sides will return to court on Friday to tell Subramanian who they want to be excused with peremptory strikes. Opening statements are on May 12.
