With 286 galleries from 38 countries—two-thirds of which hailed from the Americas—the fair celebrated its most diverse and innovative programming to date. The reimagined Meridians sector, curated by Yasmil Raymond, featured monumental works by artists like Alice Aycock and Franz West, while the Nova and Positions sectors championed emerging voices. Wentrup Gallery showcased the work of photographer Anastasia Samoylova, whose Floridas series reflects the complexities of the region, addressing issues like climate change and gentrification. Meanwhile, the MAHKU – Huni Kuin Artists Movement, presented by Carmo Johnson Projects, highlighted the social and political issues facing indigenous communities in Brazil through their unique interpretations of the Amazon forest.

Environmental Awareness: Parley for the Oceans

For the first time, Parley for the Oceans had a presence within the Collectors Lounge, inviting visitors to engage with the beauty and fragility of our oceans. The organization showcased a limited-edition Chirac Sofa, crafted from upcycled materials from Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped. Parley also launched artist-designed scarves made from upcycled ocean plastic, with proceeds supporting environmental initiatives.

Art Basel Shop: A Blend of Art and Lifestyle

The Art Basel Shop returned with its largest and most ambitious iteration yet, curated by Parisian visionary Sarah Andelman. The shop featured an eclectic mix of bespoke lifestyle products, including a vibrant capsule collection by Brazilian artist Paulo Nimer Pjota.
