Grand Banks Marine Group currently has Black Bird, a 2006 Sabre 38 Hardtop Express, listed for $365,000. The fiberglass Downeast can double as a dayboat or a weekend cruiser, sleeping up to four people.

Yachting previously reported that “Sabre appears to have nailed a winning formula by combining refined tradition with the comforts and equipment found on untraditional models.”

“We wanted to offer a line to boaters looking to transition up a quality level,” said former Sabre marketing manager Bentley Collins at the time. “And we wanted to appeal to more of a production market.”

The main deck interior and cockpit spaces can blend together, creating one larger entertainment area, with the soft enclosure unzipped. The cockpit has a transom bench seat on the centerline and an aft-facing, two-person bench seat forward to port.

The galley is belowdecks and amidships to port with an L-shaped countertop. The forward cabin operates as the master while the settee abaft the galley can sleep up to two people. The head is to starboard, adjacent to the galley.

The main deck seating includes a Stidd helm chair and a companion chair to port.

Twin Cummins 425 hp QSB electronic engines provide power for Black Bird, giving it a reported 32-knot top hop and a 25-knot cruise speed depending on load and conditions.
