Move over, four seasons. Italian yacht builder Riva is preparing to bring its distinct brand of style and luxury to the residential marketplace in the yachting capital of America.
Riva Residenze is being developed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with help from Ocean Holdings. This property will include a residential tower with 36 apartments, all of them outfitted in Riva style.
The project is an evolution not only of Riva’s on-the-water design elegance, but also of the 10 Riva Lounges the brand has opened in exclusive destinations such as Paris, Venice and Monte Carlo. Riva also has an online boutique that sells furnishings, such as an Aquariva lamp inspired by the dayboat design, and an Aquarama stool with looks clearly inspired by stylish yacht seating. The boutique also sells accouterments that would be at home in any Riva residence, such as a humidor and a leather backgammon set.
“The Aquarama revolutionized the idea of going on holiday, experiencing the sea and, above all, of being exclusive, establishing a new benchmark for elegance,” says Alberto Galassi, CEO of the Ferretti Group in Italy, which includes Riva. “Since then, Riva has been more than simply a boat brand, representing a world of beauty and style that has inspired design, fashion and lifestyle choices. Riva Residenze takes the brand’s signature aesthetics—combining mahogany, steel, the color aquamarine and timeless styling—into the luxury living sector.”
From Humble Beginnings
The Riva empire began back in the 1860s, when Pietro Riva undertook the task of building a fishing boat. The brand’s first flagship launch was the Aquarama in 1962, creating a style that continues to help define new products today. Riva has been part of the powerhouse Ferretti Group since 2000 and now has a Superyachts division, with models such as the 54 Metri, which is 180 feet long.
