Latitude: A Pinnacle of Yachting Excellence
The 45-meter motor yacht Latitude, designed by the renowned studio Vripack, has recently been listed for sale with Worth Avenue Yachts following an extensive multi-million-dollar refit in 2025. This remarkable vessel, which has undergone a complete technical overhaul, now boasts new drive shafts and full electrical rewiring, ensuring it is in peak condition for its next adventure. Registered at just under 500 gross tons, Latitude has an impressive operational history, having covered 175,000 nautical miles since its acquisition by owner Anil Thadani in 2013.
A Journey Through Time
Originally built by Timmerman Yachts in 2008, Latitude was not initially conceived as an expedition vessel. Its naval architecture and exterior design by Vripack were tailored for the challenging Northern European climates. The yacht features kort nozzles around the propellers, enhancing course stability and providing protection against debris. Despite not being ice-classed, Latitude has successfully completed multiple Arctic expeditions, showcasing its robust design and capabilities.
Thadani, a passionate adventurer, expressed his love for exploring the wilderness in comfort, stating, “Latitude has been the perfect vessel for me to achieve those dreams.” After evaluating 27 other vessels, he specifically sought a yacht capable of navigating the Northwest Passage without ice-class certification. Latitude became the third vessel to traverse the Northwest Passage in both directions in consecutive years and the third to fully circumnavigate the Svalbard Archipelago, coming within 500 miles of the North Pole.
Innovative Design and Features
One of Latitude’s standout features is its design, which offers interior volume comparable to that of a 60-meter yacht while maintaining a length of just 45 meters. Thadani noted, “The design gives you the equivalent of a 60-meter interior volume on a 45-meter boat, and just a shade under 500 gross tons, which is what I wanted.” This efficient use of space is complemented by structural features such as a robust engine room design and strategically placed crew access points, facilitating maintenance in remote locations.
The yacht has undergone several notable modifications during its refit. The original sauna was replaced with a professional dive room, equipped with dual nitrox compressors, diamond plate flooring, and a polished aluminum ceiling. Thadani shared, “I’ve done about 1,100 dives from Latitude, and we can fill all six tanks in 10 minutes thanks to our high-pressure setup that pipes directly out to the swim platform.” Additional enhancements include a reconfigured sundeck with a forward-positioned hot tub, an expanded al fresco dining area, and the conversion of the master suite office into a cinema.
Proven Performance and Reliability
Former Captain Sean Meagher, who commanded Latitude for five years until 2018, praised the yacht’s reliability and the longevity of its crew. He recalled, “One of the things that was remarkable about Latitude when I was on board was the longevity of the crew. On that first 126-day trip from Cape Cod to Vancouver, we were a very untested crew in a very extreme environment, but Latitude has proven herself as an exceptional seagoing vessel time and time again.” Even in the challenging conditions of the Northwest Passage, Meagher felt confident in the yacht’s capabilities.
Following its Arctic expeditions, Latitude has cruised extensively in the South Pacific, New Zealand, European waters, and completed six voyages through the Indonesian Archipelago. This diverse operational history highlights the yacht’s adaptability, navigating conditions ranging from tropical diving regions to high-latitude environments.
A Personal Connection
Thadani’s journey with Latitude has been deeply personal. He initially intended to own the yacht for five years, enjoying numerous adventures before selling it. However, after 13 years, he reflects, “You get to see parts of the world that you just can’t access without a yacht. For me, the happiest days of my life have been those when I’ve owned her, and the saddest day will be the one when I sell her.”

In conclusion, Latitude stands as a testament to innovative design, exceptional performance, and the spirit of adventure. With its recent refit and storied history, this yacht is poised to offer its next owner unparalleled experiences on the open seas.
