How Florida lawmakers plan to attack property taxes next year

Florida’s Republican-controlled House of Representatives is fast-tracking a sweeping package of reforms that could dramatically slash residential property taxes in the state, causing heartburn for local governments that use the money to fund critical services such as law enforcement.  Legislators are proposing seven constitutional amendments for the 2026 ballot that would give voters the chance to decide whether to scale back or eliminate property taxes on homesteaded residences, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
