Miami amped up affordable development as Broward, Palm Beach fall short

As South Florida’s decadeslong housing affordability crisis surged in the past few years, developers in Miami took note –– unlike those in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.   In Miami-Dade County, 8,690 affordable units were completed from 2020 through 2024, according to RentCafe, a Yardi Systems-owned apartment listing and research platform.
